This 1" round medal depicts Amphitrite, Sea Goddess and wife of Poseidon (Greek Mythology) or in Roman times Salacia, or Thalassa wife of Neptune. rides horses with fishtail (Hippocampus) out of the ocean. Recast in sterling silver, it is an interesting piece.
On the backside is a reference to "Chargeurs Reunis", a company founded in La Havre, France that began by transporting bananas on cargo ships from West Africa. The company eventually added goods and passengers with routes to Brazil, Argentina and New York. It has morphed into what is now Air France.
